Sundance Film Festival moves to Boulder in 2027, ending Utah era

After nearly 50 years in Utah, the Sundance Film Festival will relocate to Boulder, Colorado in 2027, with a pop-up edition in Nederland in 2026. The board chose Boulder over a Park City/Salt Lake City bid after a multi-city review. Utah leaders lamented the loss; Colorado leaders welcomed it. Organizers plan a downtown Boulder footprint and campus events at CU Boulder.
